About Drew

Drew Wagar was born in Canada, but grew up in a quiet country village in Kent, in the United Kingdom.

He graduated from the University of Brighton in 1992, with an honours degree in Computer Science and has worked in various capacities within IT since that time. He is now the Head of Application Development at Lloyd’s of London.

Outside of work he has a number of outside interests, including founding of the Mk1 Golf Owners’ Club, and the Ashford Astronomical Society (where he is currently the chairman).

Writing

Drew’s written a couple of popular short stories, based around the space trading game ‘Oolite‘, itself a ‘Creative Commons’ remake of the classic 1980s game ‘Elite’. Elite should need little introduction to connoisseurs of 80s memorabilia, but just in case, you can find out about it here.

Drew’s Oolite books have a dedicated page here. These are freely downloadable as Oolite is a ‘Creative Commons’ production and ‘Elite’ remains under its authors’ copyright.

Drew is currently putting the finishing touches to a wholly original work, a fictional novel entitled ‘Torn’. This takes place in a contemporary setting and explores the interaction between faith and science. It has its own dedicated page.
